Let borrowers lend with a QR code

Borrowers scan the code with their phone and register the loan themselves.

What happens when someone scans an item’s code depends on what you’ve chosen under Lending on the item:

  • Admins only: the person is told that your admins lend this item out.
  • Self-service: the person enters a name and presses I’m taking it. The loan is registered at once.
  • Request: the person sends a request, which you approve or decline under Bookings.

If you’re logged in as an admin when you scan, you land on the item in the app instead.

Set it up

  1. Open the item, press Edit and choose Self-service or Request under Lending.
  2. Print a label and put it on the item, or on the shelf or cupboard where it’s kept.

Require an email address

By default, a name is enough. To be able to reach everyone, go to Settings → Organization and tick Require an email address when someone borrows through the QR code under Public catalog. They then always get a receipt and reminders.

A return date through the QR code can be at most 90 days ahead. Self-service loans show up under On loan just like other loans.
